I want to inspire America to take a new path, a different direction. I envision an America which has the capacity to reconnect with the heart of the world; an America which proceeds in the world optimistically and courageously. An America which understands that the world is interdependent, that it is inter-connected, and that what we do today impacts future generations. I want to break the shackles of fear which have deprived our citizens of rights. We need to change the way this country values humanity, so that instead of fear and lies, we can live our lives based on principles of peace and hope. We need to regain the trust of the American people and we need to have a government which trusts the American people. It's time for America to resume its glorious journey; time to reject shrinking jobs and wages, disappearing savings and rights; time to reject the detour towards fear and greed. It's time to look out upon the world for friends, not enemies; time to counter the control of corporations over our politics, our economy, our resources, and mass media. It's time for those who have much to help those who have little, by maintaining a progressive tax structure. It's time to tell the world that we wish to be their partner in peace, not their leader in war. Most of all, it is time for America to again be the land where dreams come true, because the government is on the side of its people. Ten Key Issues
Dennis Kucinich: “My campaign is about the end of fear and the beginning of hope.” - 2004 A statement spoken by a true visionary, but I think it probably comes 100 years too early… If American’s were facing reality then they would know they are in a state of fear, and would be ready for something like a new beginning offering some hope. But the actuality of the majority of Americans is that they feel secure in their established world of accumulated possessions. This being the case there is no state of fear and also no need to question anything, as people are content with what they have now. I understand that if anyone were to look objectively at the reality of their lives, then this false sense of security would leave them and they would fall into desperation, and then might want something like ‘hope’. But as long as they are content with their spoon-fed reality being given to them by the corporations that are controlling them, they will remain happily dependent in their roles as sheep. I don’t expect that as long as people remain dull and sleepy being drugged with all of their material comforts, that they would even be able to recognize when a visionary (not seen since the likes of Gandhi or Martin Luther King), steps into their path and offers them a ‘real hope’ to turn this dismal situation around. Nothing significant has changed in America in four years since the last election, as can be seen by what is happening right now with the current primary to elect a democratic nominee. It’s obvious that the media is still telling the public what to think, telling them who are the top contenders and also creating what are the issues. Money is being channeled to control the election process in the identical way it was used to elect the current president. I can’t believe that these days people are so naïve to not know that the media is controlled and owned by only a few companies which in turn are owned by a few families, the same as own nearly all the resources in America. People must be able to see the duplicate news articles and pathetically limited amount of information coming across all news channels, as well as know that there is an international blackout and that much of what is reported is manipulated and fabricated? Maybe it’s known and there are rumors among colleagues, but what is being done individually to relate to this problem and do something about it? The only conclusion I can come to is that American’s aren’t interested to know more about this campaign than what the corporate-owned media is telling them. I don’t see any significant grass roots movement at this time that shows that American’s seriously want to take charge of their lives, and make a change and do their own investigation about this election. I will now make a prediction which I am nearly 99.999% sure will come true unless something drastic happens: ‘The winning nomination for the democratic presidential nominee will go to the person that the corporate machinery has determined will best serve their interests.’ It would be easy to feel like a victim and give the blame for what’s happening now on the media, but this should then be seen, as the escape it is for individual’s not to take matters into their own hands. Are people demanding alternative news or are they doing their own investigations to inform themselves about the issues or even better: looking deep inside to determine what are their own issues? That there are topics existing today, such as ‘voting for the person most likely to win’, shows that people still aren’t ready to think for themselves. How can there be a new beginning of hope, without an acknowledgement of problems? This can only come about by realizing one’s dependent situation and seeing how one prefers the ‘status quo’, because at heart we are ‘afraid of the unknown’. This underlying root cause is the reason that hardly anything ever changes. People prefer the known, which gives them their sense of security, which is also that which keeps us dependent on existing forms. This is well known by people in power positions and it is the main tool that is wielded to keep things in the way that benefits the power players. If people are kept in dependency then it is much easier to run things exactly how you want. The people are kept fat and content, the players are happy, a simple formula that has been used for ages.Maybe people don’t really see that they prefer security or are clinging to the old forms, and how this is causing stagnation and keeping all in dependency? Can one open one’s eyes and look in another way at what is the surrounding situation, acknowledging the problems? Is the main reason there is not felt fear, because people feel secure in the USA and all that it represents? They feel secure that they have a democracy with a strong constitution that protects their rights and they have the power to elect the person the people choose for president. They feel secure with Saddam Hussein dethroned, knowing subconsciously that they will not have to change their oil-guzzling habits. They feel secure with their leaders decisions regarding the war with Iraq, despite massive worldwide and American protests to the contrary. They feel secure with the military power that is protecting their right to world consumer domination, even if they don’t want to look at how the rest of the world feels about this and what is happening to the environment at the expense of being able to continue with excessive consumption patterns. They feel secure in their ability to buy whatever they want, even if they have to work nearly all their free time to be able to get enough money to obtain it. They feel secure with their advanced medical system, even if they don’t realize that the entire system can’t cure one disease as it is based on treating symptoms, which guarantee repeat customers. They feel secure with their governments and politicians who are nearly all representing the corporate machine which guarantee that they will have jobs to be able to buy things where nearly all aspects of such profit the same entity… What can be said with certainty is that they are secure in their growing dependency on being supported by corporations. There is an underlying commonality in all of these security issues and it is people’s tendency to prefer the known to the unknown. Accompanied with a misguided belief that one receives comfort or security from clinging to the known, is what keeps them dependent on existing worn out structures, versus taking a step into the unknown and making a change. Clearly there is only way out of this situation and that is for people to start to question their own position and everything around them, taking their sovereignty into their own hands. Everyone has this power that they can wield but only they will do it when they realize that the reality is not as they previously imagined. I see that what Dennis stands for in his campaign offers everyone a new beginning but it is up to each individual to be able to recognize it. I see Dennis’ campaign issue is his own personal challenge, but also that his offering invites each individual to take on his or her own personal challenge. We can each join with Dennis no matter where we are and start to take steps right now and begin the process of questioning everything, including ourselves and what is going on around us. This ‘new beginning’ is free, always available and can be entered into at any moment; only it takes a conscious decision to do so. I don’t see that what is most important about this campaign is the final outcome, what is most important is the journey and we can all benefit as a group by consciously entering into atransformation of our world.
