Basking in the Sun Visualization

Background

On December 3, 2005, I had a dream about old men in wheelbarrows in a park setting. I was walking towards a park, and there ahead over some water and a bridge I could see tables and chairs. I started walking towards the bridge. While on the bridge entering the park or just after going over it, I saw clearer that there was an old man who looked like Santa Claus, lying naked in a wheelbarrow and basking in the sun. This was amazing to see and when I looked around at the rest of the park, I saw this same identical man in identical wheelbarrows all over the park all basking in the sun.  While I stared at this in amazement, I felt someone come up behind me and they put their hands on my shoulders. I immediately felt strong energy enter my body. Feeling this, I then started to respond energetically back and just melt with the other person as it felt so nice. Then they said, I really like your energy and then I woke up.

After the dream at that time, I felt it was giving information for me to increase my vibration and I actually did sunbathing in a metal wheelbarrow a few times, which was very powerful but not very comfortable. My kundalini awakening started shortly thereafter on January 16, 2006. Then in 2016, I came across a book that really helped me understand what we are and how reality exists. I found out it was first published on January 19, 2006 with the title: Longchenpa: Old Man Basking in the Sun, translated by Keith Dowman. Later this book, was republished with another title Natural Perfection: Longchenpa’s Radical Dzogchen. (As far as I know the contents of both books are the same.) When I found this out, I felt the dream was actually giving me information to help steer me to this book. It may have happened that I searched on the keywords:  ‘Old man basking in the sun’ into the Internet back then to help interpret the dream and the book could have appeared in the search results – if so, I didn’t notice it. Anyway, after so much time went by and after I read this book, then I understood what the dream meant and then knew the best way to work with kundalini awakening which is really the most like doing nothing. Inspired by this book and my earlier dream, I then decided to create this visualization.

Instructions

This is a ‘doing nothing’ meditation, giving one a complete break from all of one’s concerns and worries and giving space for healing. All you need to do for this visualization is this: sit or lie down on your back, close your eyes and imagine that you are basking in the sun lying down. You can bask in the sun with or without clothes; you can lie in a lounge chair, on the grass, on the sand or even floating on your back in the water. In whatever way you prefer to sunbathe, you only need to lie down and soak up the rays. Clearly visualize your ideal setting and imagine yourself in that visualization lying down and basking in the sun. The sun’s energy is just the right amount of warmth, the breeze is light, no being is around that can see you or disturb you. Visualize yourself basking in the sun, SEEING the sun in the center of your field of view behind your closed eyelids and FEELING the warming rays soaking into your body and melting all your tension, thoughts and body pain away. Visualize those warming rays from the sun as soaking into and filling the body with sparkling healing energy. You have no resistance to this flow of healing and transformative energy. You do not even want to think about anything at all while sunbathing, as thinking itself requires too much effort and you notice when you think your head hurts. Just for a short while, you are just taking a complete break from life and doing nothing but basking in the sun for as long as it feels good to do so.

Note: Once you can feel the swirling kundalini energies in the body. That swirling sensation is like a beacon and can easily be used for this meditation that facilitates transformation of mind and body to unity consciousness. Even if you cannot feel swirling energies in the body, this meditation still works.
